While Baldur’s Gate 3 does take a lot of inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons, however, players are confused about one of the most underrated game mechanics, how to throw weapons & items. At times, the only option you may have left to attack an enemy would be to throw weapons in BG3. Along with that, players might have to disarm traps now and then. Throwing items can prove to be quite useful since it will trigger the trap and leave your party unharmed.
How to Throw Weapons & Items in Baldur’s Gate 3
If you want to throw weapons and items in Baldur’s Gate 3, you will have to select the Throw option from the left side. Once you select it, your Hotbar will change and you will now be able to check out all items and weapons that can be thrown at the enemies. Once players select the weapon they want to throw, they will make an Attack Roll against the target. There are numerous factors that will count while throwing weapons. However, the most important ones are the Strength and Dexterity of the character.
Do note that if the Attack Roll is higher than the Armour Class of the enemy, the thrown weapon will deal its normal weapon damage plus the Strength or Dexterity based on the ability used.
All Throwable Weapons in BG3
At the time of writing these are the melee weapons that players can throw at their targets in BG3:
- Dagger
- Handaxe
- Javelin
- Light Hammer
- Spear
- Trident
Additionally, there are a few other magical weapons that have the Thrown property by default. Keep in mind, most objects thrown are unlikely to damage enemies as these weapons do. However, they can be quite useful if you are disarming a trap. There are numerous traps in Baldur’s Gate 3 and you will have to trigger some to disarm them.
