In Scarlet and Violet, you will meet the new ninth generation of Pokemon along with a few old favorites. The end goal is to catch all of them and complete your Pokedex. But apart from catching regular ones, you can also catch Shiny Pokemon. If you are a veteran trainer, then you must be aware of Shiny hunting. These are sought after due to their rarity and appearance. But how do you tell them apart? This article will feature how to tell if a Pokemon is Shiny in Scarlet and Violet.
How to Tell if a Pokemon is Shiny in Scarlet and Violet
Shinies are rare spawns in this game so identifying them can be a bit tricky. The best way to tell if a Pokemon is Shiny in Scarlet and Violet is by its color. If it has a different shade than the regular one, then you have encountered this variant. Some of them are noticeable from a distance but others are subtle. Unlike in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, you will not be notified by a sound if this variant is nearby. So you have to enter a battle with them. There, you can identify the color difference better. Some of them have a completely different body color, while others can be differentiated by a small detail. For instance, a regular Lechonk is Black but their variant is Pink in color. But in the case of Armarogue, the only difference in appearance is the color of its eyes. The regular one has orange eyes while the variant has blue.
Another way is to look for a glittering animation before the battle starts. As we mentioned, they are rare and you have a 1/4096 chance to encounter one. But thanks to the Picnic mechanic, you can prepare Sandwiches with Meal Powers to increase your chances. You can also use a Shiny Charm but you will find it late in the game.
