How To Ground Pound In Super Mario 64 (3D All Stars Guide)

Many new players are experiencing the world of Super Mario 3D All Stars since the compilation including Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy is now available on Nintendo Switch. One of the things you must know if you are playing Super Mario 64 specifically is how to ground pound in Super Mario 64. Look no further, because we will explain how to do it right here.

Super Mario 64: How to Ground Pound Easily

To do this iconic move where Mario jumps up and slams his butt on the ground, here’s what you have to do. While you are midair (jump by pressing the A button), you have to crouch by pressing the ZL button. When you do this right, he will do a flip and slam on the ground. The crouch is basically to put him in a sitting pose which will then turn into the classic Ground Pound in Super Mario 64.

This is just one of the classic Mario moves that you can perform in the retouched version of the original game. Note that you can do this trick whenever you want, but it is the way you can beat Whomps in Whomp’s Fortress. Whomps are basically stone enemies that are rectangular in shape and have snaggletoothed faces, tiny hands and feet.

These foes will try to crush Mario with their rock-solid bodies but our guy can defeat them with a well-timed ground pound in Super Mario 64. It has to be performed on its back because that is the weak spot. You can do the same for the Whomp King! Apart from this, this action can help you lower the damage you take when you fall from a height.

That is all there is to it. Go ahead and check our other latest video game guides or our guides on Paper Mario: The Origami King if you are a Mario fan.
