How to Summon a Blue Axolotl in Minecraft
Blue Axolotl is the rarest of all the Axolotls available in the game. There are only two ways you can get a Blue Axolotl.
Using a Console Command
Now if you are looking for an easy way to have Blue Axolotl as your pet then you can use the Console Command in Minecraft’s Java and Bedrock versions. You have to make sure that cheats are enabled in your game.
For Java Version:
- Command – /summon minecraft:axolotl ~ ~ ~ {Variant:4}
To activate cheats:
- Go to your Menu.
- Click on the ‘Open To LAN’ option and you will see the ‘Allow Cheats’ option.
- Turn it on and click on Start LAN World.
For Bedrock Version:
- Command – /summon axolotl ~ ~ ~ minecraft:entity_born
To activate cheats in the Bedrock version:
- Open Menu
- Go to Settings and click on Game
- Scroll down the right screen till you come across ‘Activate Cheats’
- Click on the slider and it should turn green

Breeding Axolotl
Another way to get a Blue Axolotl is by breeding Axolotls. Now, this method is tricky since there is a 1/1200 chance of getting a Blue Axolotl. But if you don’t want to cheat then you will need a lot of patience. To Breed Axolotls:
- Find a warm ocean biome with a huge supply of tropical fish
- Fill up these tropical fishes in your buckets
- You will need two buckets of fish to breed two Axolotls
- Build a pool or pools near the ocean where the Axolotls can breed
- Make sure they are wide enough to get in and tall enough that they cannot escape
- Start breeding them till you get a Blue Axolotl.
