Sonic Frontiers: Should You Increase Speed Or Ring Capacity (Explained)

Published Date :

The new Sonic Frontiers is unlike any of its previous installments. The game features a vast open world to explore and abilities to unlock. While exploring the mysterious Starfall Islands, you will come across many resources to upgrade Sonic’s basic abilities. These abilities include strength, defense, speed, and ring capacity which you can upgrade to fight formidable bosses in the game. Increasing the speed or ring capacity is a bit difficult in the game as you have to choose between either. If you are confused then read further to know if you should increase the speed or the ring capacity in Sonic Frontiers.

Increase Speed Stat or Ring Capacity in Sonic Frontiers

Elder Hermit in Sonic Frontiers increase speed or ring capacity

To increase either speed or ring capacity, you will have to collect some resources and interact with Elder Koko. You can go through our guide on how to farm and level up stats for more detail. Basically, you will need 12 Kokos to get a single point to upgrade speed or the ring capacity. Both of these stats are important in the game so choosing between them will be quite difficult. However, it all depends on your play style. Next, we will go over how each stat will affect your gameplay.

If you choose to increase the speed stat over ring capacity, you will be able to travel faster through the map. Being an open-world game, speed will help you explore areas in a short amount of time. This stat is also important against foes like the Squid Guardian.

As veterans of the Sonic series know, Rings in this game act like a unique health system. As long as you have even a single ring, you will not lose a life by taking damage. So having extra rings will give you an edge over tough opponents like the Titans. Increasing the ring capacity will allow you to carry more rings at once.

The good news is that the game allows you to swap points whenever you want. Just head over to Elder Koko and he will do it for you. So we recommend you increase the Speed stat first to explore the map. Then later on, as you face difficult enemies, increase your Ring Capacity. The game is fairly long so you can even max out the stats for both.
