What is Snow Yam in Stardew Valley?

Snow Yam is a part of forageable items found only in Winter. These root vegetables have a spawn rate of 11 – 16% in an Artifact Spot and a 4% in any tillable land. It can be used for various purposes like gifting, crafting, tailoring, and selling. Since there are not many plants you can grow in winter, you should make the most of them.

How to Get Snow Yam

Now that you know how useful these roots can be, let’s move on to procuring them. You can get Snow Yams in Stardew Valley by tilling the land or farming. If you choose to till, you will need a hoe. Then, till the lands except for farms and deserts. The best place to till for these yams is the Artifact Spots. Look for worms on the land and till it to get a guaranteed drop. If you are lucky, you will get your hands on this winter yam. You can use a Gold or Iridium Hoe to till the land faster.

To farm these yams, you will need Winter Seeds. But first, you will have to scavenge for the following items:

  • Crystal Fruit
  • Crocus
  • Snow Yam
  • Winter Root

Note that should be at Foraging Level 7 to unlock this recipe. Then, you can go to the crafting menu and create Wild Seeds. You will get 10 Seeds for the four items in the recipe so it’s a good deal. Then you can farm using these seeds to get multiply your harvest.
