The new fertilizer in Sims 4 Cottage Living can only be used on Oversized Crops. Growing large and oversized crops is one of the new activities in the expansion. You can farm oversized crops to enter the Finchwick Fair’s competition. As you plant and cultivate Aubergines, Lettuce, Mushrooms, Pumpkins, Watermelons, all can be converted to oversize crops. To do this you need to plant them in a patch of land, and as they grow they will come to the center and merge to become a bigger oversized crop. To get them to grow into giants, you’ll need to fertilize them roughly once every day.
Sims may fertilize plants starting at level 5, which helps them evolve faster. Fertilizing has no impact on the quality of the plant or harvestable, nor does it speed up the production of harvestable. It also does not make the plant more resistant to water, weeding, or pest spraying. You may access rare seed packs after you reach level 10 in Gardening.
