What Is A Seneschal Companion In Diablo 4 Season 3?

Curious to know how these companions work in D4 S3? Here’s what Blizzard has revealed.

Blizzard has revealed the details about Diablo 4 Season 3 Season of the Construct and one of the pivotal elements of the new season is a Seneschal companion. If you’re like me, you’re already wondering, what are Seneschal companions? Here’s everything you need to know about this new seasonal addition.

What are Seneschal Companions in Diablo 4 Season 3?

A Seneschal Companion is a robotic partner/minion available during the Zoltun Kulle Seasonal questline. This “pet” is different from the non-combat pets from Diablo 3. The Seneschal will engage in your fight by directly attacking or assisting you by helping you survive or by giving you a boost. Unfortunately, your D4 Season 3 companion won’t collect your gold for you.

Once you have acquired this companion, they will follow you around everywhere in Sanctuary until the end of the season.

The best part is that you can use the Governing and Tuning Stones (seasonal items) that can make your Seneschal suit the type of build you are going for this time.

Governing Stones will determine which attacks your Seneschal can perform.
Tuning Stones will “augment” those skills and provide better utility.

Your Seneschal can be equipped with 2 Governing stones and 6 Tuning stones; 1 Governing stone for each attack and 3 Tuning Stones to augment the ability. In total, you will find 12 Governing stones and 27 Tuning stones of different rarities, available in the new Vaults, so there’s a lot to edit and modify to make your Seneschal companion more powerful.

The powers of these Stones are pretty interesting too. For example, Firefly deploys a small construct that lands on the target and explodes thrice dealing damage. Meanwhile, Slash pummels enemies in front of the Seneschal Construct dealing damage and Protect creates a protective Barrier on the player for a portion of their Max Life.

We’ve got a separate guide on how to get Governing Stones and Tuning Stones, and you can check it out to get an idea before (or even after) the season begins!
