If you have recently purchased a new Google Chromebook, you might find it surprising that there is no separate right-click button on the touchpad, but that doesn’t mean the function is not available on the notebook. In this guide, we will walk you through on how to right click on a Chromebook in the different ways listed below.

How to Right Click on a Chromebook

There are several ways to right-click on a Google Chromebook: the first technique is right-clicking with two fingers, and the second one is to right-clicking using the Keyboard Modifier. Check out both methods given below.

1. Right Click on a Chromebook with two fingers

  • First, click on the touchpad with two fingers to easily right-click on a Chromebook.
  • After that, a right-click context menu will pop up.
  • Alternatively, you can also turn on the Tap-To-Click feature on Chromebook, and to do that, click on the Clock at the bottom right corner.
  • A new System menu will open, here you need to click on Settings which will look like the cog wheel icon.
  • Go to the bottom and then click the “Advanced” option.
  • Navigate to the bottom again and then click on Device > Touchpad.
  • Now, click on the “Enable tap-to-click” toggle button to turn it on.
  • Finally, tap both fingers on the touchpad and a right-click menu will open.

2. Right Click on a Chromebook with a Keyboard Modifier

First, press and hold down the “ALT” key on the keyboard and then tap on the touchpad.
This will perform a right click feature on Chromebook.
Alternatively, you can also turn on the “Tap-To-Click” option by following the methods above and then holding the “Alt” key and tapping on the touchpad to perform a right click.
