According to a trusted source, Resident Evil 9 has been in development for quite a while. Since the focus is initially on Resident Evil Village, we shouldn’t expect further details or even the release in the foreseeable future.
Resident Evil 9 Already in Development
At the moment, almost everything at Capcom revolves around the completion of Resident Evil Village, which is in development for the consoles and the PC.
As the industry insider AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem, who made a name for himself as a reliable source for the Resident Evil series in the past, reports that Resident Evil 9 is being worked on behind the scenes at the same time. According to Dusk Golem, the next main title of the horror series has been in development at Capcom since the end of 2018.
Since the focus is of course on the completion of Resident Evil Village, we shouldn’t expect specific details about Resident Evil 9 in the foreseeable future. According to Dusk Golem, the release of the title should not take place until 2024 or later. In addition, there is definitely the possibility that the development of Resident Evil 9 will be subjected to a reboot, the insider continues.
“But don’t expect it anytime soon. I literally cannot see it releasing before 2024. To the point it’s actually not worth even talking about right now, anything could happen to it in dev, from the whole thing being rebooted (it’s happened a lot in the RE series),” explained Dusk Golem.
Resident Evil Village will be released on May 7, 2021, for the PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
Wait until you find out that there was a period of time that RE:2, RE:3, RE8, Outrage, RE:4 & RE9 were all in development at the exact same time (late 2018). https://t.co/UMzFRSK7mt
