While we’ve covered how to reduce and cure Scarlet Rot in Elden Ring, in this guide, we will take a look at another Status Effect – Madness. This effects keeps building up and once the meter is full, the target will lose FP and health as well. This is terrifying if you are planning to cast some spells against an enemy or even just survive. To be better prepared during such situations, you will need some items and spells.
How to Cure Madness in Elden Ring
- Players can use the Lucidity spell and the Clarifying Boluses consumable item to cure Madness buildup in Elden Ring.
- Here’s the exact location of Clarifying Boluses on the map. If you’d like to craft it instead, you need to find the Frenzied’s Cookbook [1] as well as the materials Dewkissed Herba x2, Crystal Cave Moss x1 and Eye of Yelough x1.
- For sorcery users, you can find Lucidity in Carian Study Hall and it is dropped by Preceptor Miriam. Players will need to unlock the secret area in this location with the help of the Carian Inverted Statue.
How to Reduce Madness
To mitigate Madness in Elden Ring, players need to find and equip equipment, spells, items and skills which provide resistance to this effect. Focus on increasing your Focus stat which can be done by adding points to Mind attribute.
Here are the Items that increase your Focus:
- Clarifying Horn Charm
- Shield of the Guilty
- Rift Shield
- Mottled Necklace
Armor with High Focus:
- Mushroom Set (214)
- Azur’s Glintstone (165)
- Corhyn’s Robe (107)
- Pumpkin Helm (44)
How to Avoid the Madness at Frenzy Flaming Tower
- If the Frenzy Flaming tower comes into view on screen, your madness levels will increase. Use the horse to quickly hide behind a tall rock until the madness meter empties out.
- Once it’s gone, keep moving ahead and you should see a Spirit Spring that you can use to jump upwards to a great height.
- If your angle and direction are right, you will land right near the Frenzy Flaming Tower.
- Look inside and you will see a few Rats that you could either kill or evade in order to climb the ladder. Then climb the next two ladders and defeat the enemies waiting for you on top.
- Don’t forget to explore this tower to unlock the Howl of Shabriri Incantation as well. This releases a maddening shriek that will create a madness buildup in enemies that are nearby. Keep in mind that it also causes madness buildup in the caster and makes enemies more likely to target them.
