Different from most companions, Astarion is someone everyone wishes to recruit in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3). He is a handsome high elf of the Rogue class with a secret dark past. His way of thinking, motives, and behavior is not what you will expect from a hero, and neither he claims to be one. He is clear about what he finds fun and what is a nuisance. Astarion finds amusement in malevolent actions and is in favor of using Tadpole’s powers. Though he has a strong reason for using Tadpole’s power, hating heroic deeds is just part of his nature.
How to Recruit Astarion as Companion in Baldur’s Gate 3
You first find Astarion in the southwestern part of the Ravaged Beach in Act 1. When you first escape from the Nautiloid, you find yourself on the Ravaged Beach. Walk in the said direction till you find Astarion. As soon as you get near the Astarion, the new Baldur’s Gate 3 cutscene will start, where he will tell you that he has cornered one of those brain things. And then ask you to kill that. You will get three dialogue options now, and no matter what you select Astarion will try to attack you. But don’t worry, as before he does any harm to you, Tadpole will connect you with him.
As soon as the Narrator’s voice stops, Astarion will ask you what was that. Tell him about the mind flayer’s worm and how it connected you with him. He will say that it makes sense and apologize. Then you can continue with dialogues till you get these options. Select the first dialogue to recruit Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3.
