Pufferfish is used in very few recipes, this is because it is not a very common fish that is needed for much. Here are all of the recipes that you can use the pufferfish in:

  • Maki Rolls
  • Sashimi
  • Quality Fertilizer

You can also put it in a Fish Pond to earn some yellow pufferfish roe.

Stardew Valley: How to Use Pufferfish?

  • Apart from food, you can also use pufferfish as a gift item, use it as a tool or even sell it to different NPCs.
  • You can use pufferfish as a gift for the NPC Abigail who loves the same. However, other NPCs either feel neutral towards the fish or just don’t like it in general.
  • Another thing that you can use pufferfish in is as a spool of the sewing machine. This will create a Sailor shirt that you can also dye.

Stardew Valley Quests That Require Pufferfish

There are also a few quests that require you to get the pufferfish. These quests will only appear during the Stardew Valley’s summer season. In exchange for your efforts, you can also get rewarded with gold. Here are the three quests that require Pufferfish:

  • Aquatic Research Quest
  • A Help Wanted Quest
  • Fishing Quest

How to Get Pufferfish

Just like other fishes in the game, this fish has specific conditions before it can be caught. You can get pufferfish only during the summer, around mid-day to early evening. This means that on a sunny summer day, the best time to fish for pufferfish is around 11:30 am 4:00 pm. One of the best places to get pufferfish is on Ginger Island.

If you can’t wait for summer then you could also find this fish in any season within the island’s West, South, Southeast, and Pirate Cove locations.

You can also buy Pufferfish from the Traveling Cart for the hefty price of around 600-1000 gold.
