Double Fine Productions has announced that Psychonauts 2 will be delayed until next year, this announcement comes from a blog post published weeks after E3, in which they have explained the reason for the delay.
The blog post says, “There really shouldn’t be too many other noticeable changes for you at all, at least not for a while…with one notable exception: We’re now targeting next year for release, We know it’s always disappointing when you have to wait a bit longer, but we also know that you are an amazing, supportive bunch, who—just like us—want the game to be as good as possible.”
It is clear that developers are looking at the crunch game developers have been facing in the industry and have been taking it easy for the people involved to deliver the best product they can.
There are two sides to this, one is where a game may be delayed so that the developers can rest and take things calmly but the other side is more haunting as seen in recent months where BioWare employees were wishing for Anthem to fail and wishing for a break.
It is certainly a much needed and deserved break that these developers are getting which will rejuvenate them, but on the upside, it looks that 2020 will be a big year as many games have been announced for the year.
Psychonauts does not have a definite release date but it will be released for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
