Yes, you can get and download the PS5 upgrade for free in Elden Ring. You can download the PS5 upgrade patch if you have bought the game on PS4 consoles. You will still have the access to the PS4 version and won’t lose any progress. So, you can also play the PS4 version alongside the PS5 next-gen upgrade.
How to update from PS4 to PS5 Upgrade
If you are using the Physical PS4 edition, insert the Elden Ring disc into the console. As soon as you insert the disc, you will be prompted that the PS5 upgrade is available on the game’s Home screen. Now, all you need to do is download the next-gen patch. The download size for this upgrade or patch is 44.47 GB.
For the PS4 Digital Edition players, you can download the PS5 upgrade patch from the Library. Here’s how you can get the upgrade:
- From the Library, head to the “Your Collections” tab.
- Select Elden Ring and head out to its Product Page.
- Then, select the three horizontal lines next to Download or Play option.
- Finally, select the PS5 Upgrade edition from the drop-down menu.
Compared to getting Elden Ring on PS5, getting it on PS4 is better as it allows you to have two copies. With the free next-gen upgrade, you can also play the PS4 version on PS5 consoles. You will get higher and steady performance while playing the PS4 version. But note to set the Disk region the same as the region of your PSN account. The PS4 version on PS5 consoles can run at a solid 60 FPS.
