For months, there has been talk that the PlayStation 5 may follow the example of previous generations and prepare for a new, slimmer model, known as the PS5 Slim. Now, Xbox Era’s Nick Baker has heard that the reveal of PS5 Slim will reportedly take place in August 2023 in the said PlayStation Event. Check out all the information regarding the PlayStation 5 Slim console below.
PS5 Slim Reveal Reportedly Coming in August 2023
Already a few weeks ago a well-known Australian retailer referred to a slimmer model of the PlayStation 5 console. Not to mention that the documents of the lawsuit at the FTC for the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard also speak of the imminent launch of a PS5 Slim, as reported by Microsoft.
Now, according to a report, the always well-informed Nick Baker of Xbox Era takes care of the matter. Responding to a cryptic tweet from The Snitch, Baker said he had heard of a PlayStation event some time ago in August 2023 and that the plan was to reveal the PS5 Slim at that very time.
I had heard a little while back that there would most likely be an August show for PlayStation and the plan was to reveal the Slim there. Maybe they're going earlier to combat the Xbox/ABK news? https://t.co/8sqyO8gnyx

Baker always believes that the new console could be revealed “earlier” to counter Microsoft’s victory over the FTC for the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard.
Of course, plans can always change, as according to rumors, production of the current version will cease by the end of the year. The new model, the same as the removable disk drive, will start retailing in September.
It would be a console that would be thinner and more elegant, thus solving one of the main problems of the current models which have often proved to be notably “bulky” (although many have never been sorry for the design).
Sony hasn’t yet said anything about any new models in development, much less a PS5 without an optical drive. However, previous reports have suggested a design virtually identical to the currently existing one.
For the time being, we know for sure that within this year we should see PlayStation Project Q, the handheld designed for remote play from PS5.
