Prayer System Explained in Dwarf Fortress

Published Date :

Dwarf Fortress is one of the most detailed Sandbox games you will get to experience. For those who are into crafting games, this game is a delight with a mix of structures of society. While there are multiple races in this game, Dwarves are the most productive ones. Hence, it is important that you ensure that their Happiness level never decreases. If you fail to do so, they will begin to develop negative thoughts. In such cases, you can help the Dwarves get some peace of mind by building a Temple. Wherein, they can offer their Prayers and maintain their sanity. However, it is not as easy as you think it is. Although, read this guide till the end and know how Dwarves Pray in Dwarf Fortress.

As mentioned above, you need to build a Temple so that people in your Fortress can visit there. While building a Temple, you can select it to be a Generic one dedicated to no specific deity. Or you can dedicate a temple to a specific deity as some sectors of the colony are extremely religious following a single deity. So, if some of the citizens are not praying in Dwarf Fortress, it’s because you do have not to build a Temple that is dedicated to their religion’s God.

Further, you don’t have to worry about dedicating a deity to a Temple. This is because the citizens will request you regarding their deity if they want to Pray in Dwarf Fortress. One more thing to keep in mind here is that the Prayer offering works differently in Fortress Mode and in Adventure Mode of Dwarf Fortress.

Fortress mode focuses on the citizens being productive whereas Adventure mode is all about exploration. If the citizens are sane, then only they will be able to complete their tasks with complete devotion. So offering prayer is an important thing to do in Fortress mode. Whereas, in Adventure mode, offering prayers is not that important as it has nothing to do with sanity. Moreover, there are already world-generated Temples in Adventure mode dedicated to a specific deity.

That’s everything covered on how the Prayer system works in Dwarf Fortress. Meanwhile, you are here, make sure to check out our other Gaming Guides on Gamer Tweak.
