How to Play Overwatch 2 Without a Phone Number
You can only play Overwatch 2 without a phone number if you have played the original game since June 9, 2021. So sadly there is no way new players can play without using a phone number. This change has taken place from 7th October 2022.
One of the main reasons to bring phone numbers into play was to reduce smurfs and cheaters in the game. So you can somewhat see why Blizzard isn’t allowing new players to play without a phone number.
And even if you are someone who has played the original game, being toxic will still get you a ban. So original players should make the most out of their account as once they get permanently banned, the next account will require them to add a phone number.
In case you are someone who doesn’t have a phone number or are someone with a prepaid number. There are still two things you can do, note both of these still require a phone number.
- Use someone else’s number: In case you have a family member or a friend that doesn’t plan to play Overwatch 2 and has a postpaid plan. Then you can use their number to register. Do remember one account can only use one number. So if they ever plan to play they won’t be able to with their own number.
- Get your plan changed or get a New number: Before we even checking it, this option isn’t for everyone. It is completely understandable if you don’t get a number just for a game. But if you really want to play Overwatch 2, then sadly this will be the only option you have.
- Wait: This also isn’t a very reliable option but something you don’t have much choice about. You will have to wait for Blizzard to change this policy and hope that sometime down the line they completely remove the need of having to use a phone number.
