Since there are some legal issues between Apple & Epic Games, the devs have stopped developing and updating the Mac version of the game on the Epic Games Launcher. As a result, you will find the Mac Version of Fortnite still running on the 13.40 update.
However, having said that you can still download and play the game on Mac but with the outdated version. You will miss out on the fully updated battle royale experience that the game provides. There are some workarounds that players can try out to run the latest version of the game on Mac:
Boot Camp & Parallels
For Intel Mac users the easiest way would be to download Apple’s own multi-boot assistant Boot Camp to switch to Windows. This will help you play Fortnite on Mac without any hassle of being on outdated versions. However, as the installation might be confusing we would recommend you to follow the instructions given on the official website. Silicon Mac users won’t be able to use the assistant, instead, they can use the desktop virtualization software Parallels. Again this can be even more complicated we would recommend you refer to their site for instructions.
GeForce Now & Amazon Luna
The easiest and most convenient way to play the latest version of Fortnite on Mac would be to use Cloud Gaming Services like GeForce Now & Amazon Luna. These services have the updated version of the game in their list and have the latest support enabled. Having said that, you will need a good internet connection to run the services as well as Fortnite on your device. You can also use Boosteroid as one of the alternatives.
