While you can play as Atreus in God of War Ragnarok, you cannot choose between Kratos and Atreus. When the God of War is present, you will be playing from the perspective of Kratos. The only gameplay moments that you can get for Atreus is the solo adventures. We won’t be spoiling the reasons why Atreus heads out alone, one of them is to meet a certain character after discovering the Shores of Nine region during the Path named “Old Friends”. For the fans who wanted to play as Atreus for a bigger chunk of the game, there’s a long quest you get to do after meeting Angrboda.
Maybe one of the future games in the franchise will develop more moments of playing as Atreus. However, this is what players can get for Ragnarok.
