In Dead Rails, mining can help you get extra cash as well as fuel for your travels, however, many players are curious about the types of ores in Dead Rails, including the existence of Diamond Ore. Unfortunately, there’s no such thing in the game right now. The only currently available ores are Coal, Silver, and Gold, and here’s everything you need to know about getting and using them during your run.
Dead Rails Ores Guide
Coal Ore
Coal is the most common ore you’ll find, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s not useful. When you mine it, you can get more than one from one ore rock. If you get 3, they end up being worth $60. This saves money as you won’t need to buy Coal (for $20) at the General Store in Towns later.
Silver Ore
Next, we have Silver ore which can be sold for quick cash ($18). You will also get some rocks which are useless for trading but you can still pick them up and keep them in your inventory if you’d like.
Gold Ore
Gold is currently the most valuable ore in Dead Rails. It sells for $40 which is a good boost of money if you’re running short of offensive or defensive items.

While mining is important, it can be tedious because it takes 40 hits from a Shovel to get ore from one rock. To combat this problem, pick the Miner class because players can use the Pickaxe to break the rock easily in 2 hits. So, if you’re playing with a team or with friends, there can be one Miner. However, if you’re playing solo and not playing as the Miner class, it’s best to skip the ores in Dead Rails.
