Strange Mask in Dead Rails

Published Date :

Dead Rails is not only packed with a variety of enemies and valuable loot, but also has some intriguing items like the Strange Mask. Also known as the Jade Mask, it allows players to bring the dead back to life. Where to find it and how does it work? Here’s everything you need to know.

What is the Strange Mask in Dead Rails?

The Strange Mask can be found in the abandoned mining town of Sterling. When placed on a fallen enemy, it reanimates them, turning them into an ally who fights by your side. These resurrected creatures only remain alive for a short time before they meet a second, more permanent death. However, they can come in handy if you have reanimated a challenging opponent like an Ironclad Zombie, Werewolf, and more.

How to Find the Strange Mask

Getting the Strange Mask isn’t very simple because it is not out in the open. You’ll have to venture through the Sterling’s mines packed with deadly enemies to eventually find it.

First, Head to Sterling

The town of Sterling is located between 10,000 to 30,000 km or 50,000 to 60,000 km in the game, depending on your run.

Enter the Mines

At the far end of town, you’ll find a boarded-up entrance to the mines. You’ll need Dynamite to blast it open. You can use the ones you may have previously bought or, you can find some nearby in a minecart.

Once inside, expect waves of Skeletons and Dynamite Zombies to attack every few seconds. If you’re playing with friends, coordinate with them via voice chat to take down enemies as you locate the mask. You’ll also find gold, silver, and other loot scattered throughout the tunnels.

Open the Hidden Chamber

The Strange Mask is locked away in a special boarded-up room that requires another stick of dynamite to open. But beware—grabbing the mask will trigger three Werewolves to spawn. If you’re not prepared, you might not make it out alive.

How the Strange Mask Works

The mask has a Reanimation Ability. Pick up the item and place it on a corpse. This will revive that enemy as an ally, making them fight for you. This can be a lifesaver in tough battles.

The resurrected creature will remain active for about two to three minutes before it is struck by lightning and dies permanently. If the revived enemy dies while fighting for you, you won’t be able to revive it again.

In dire situations, you can sell this valuable item which gives you $250. Speaking of valuable items, here’s what you need to know about the Brain in Jar, Unicorn and Jade sword.
