What Is The Max Level Cap In Borderlands 3?

Published Date :

Borderlands 3, the last release in Gearbox Software’s iconic looter shooter series has continued to keep players on their toes with new updates and patch releases. And with each new patch update, the developers have raised the max level cap, allowing players to grind their Vault Hunters even further. If you have played the fps shooter long enough and are familiar with the skill points, you would know that grinding these levels will only make your vault hunters better at what they do.

Although, with frequent updates, it’s hard to keep track of the maximum level cap in Borderlands 3, and it’s fair enough that one would be curious about it. So if you want to know the current cap and what happens when you reach it, then here is a guide you should check out further.

What is the Borderlands 3 Max Level?

The current max level cap in Borderlands 3 is level 72. The game at launch had a cap of level 50 and it was last raised back in June 2021 with a free patch release. Along with the max level, the developers also made crossplay available with the update in the game.

With that being said, you won’t be able to reach that level at the end of the main campaign in Borderlands 3. At the end of your campaign, you will most likely be on level 35, if you have grinded your way through the looter shooter.

However, you will need to keep playing further by exploiting the Mayhem and Circles of Slaughter modes. Beyond that, you can level up your Vault Hunters through the Borderlands 3 DLCs, if you have any at your disposal.

Once you reach level 72 in Borderlands 3, you won’t be able to gain any additional experience points further. Meaning, you won’t be able to level up your Vault Hunters any further in the game. Since you won’t gain any additional XP and are restricted to 72 with your characters, you won’t be able to earn any additional skill points. And you won’t be able to access the skill tree to unlock any new skills in Borderlands 3.

However, players will be able to level up their Guardian Rank in the game. The system is unlocked once you complete the main campaign of Borderlands 3 along with the Mayhem Mode. Leveling up the rank will grant you bonus stats for your Vault Hunters. This increases your damage, health, accuracy, etc given the set stats you choose.

Many players might wonder if the level cap might be increased further in Borderlands 3. Since there has been no official announcement in recent times about the level cap, it can be tough to point out.

However, Borderlands 2 had a cap of 72 and many players have assumed that it might just be the last level where the devs behind Gearbox Software might call it a day for the third installment.

That’s everything covered in this guide. If you find this guide helpful, check out our other dedicated guides Borderlands 3 section, right here on Gamer Tweak.
