Mass Effect Legendary Edition: How to Swap and Change Weapons

Let’s look at how to change weapons in Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3. To switch weapons in Mass Effect 1, you have to press and hold L1/LB on your PlayStation (PS4, PS5)/Xbox controller (Xbox One, Series X | S). This will reveal the weapon wheel and now you have to use your analog stick to choose the weapon you want to change to. You can do the same thing to get your squad mates to change weapons based on the enemy you are facing. Players can also double tap the L1/LB button to switch to a previous weapon directly which will save more time in combat. In case you want to change to a shotgun from a sniper quickly, this is the best way to do it.

There is a bit of a difference in Mass Effect 2 and 3 compared to 1. You have to press L1/LB to bring up the weapon wheel which is same as the first game. But to quickly switch weapons while you have a weapon in your hand, you have to press and hold Square/X on PlayStation/Xbox.

This is how to change weapons and swap to the desired one to take down enemies. While you are here, don’t forget to read our other Mass Effect Legendary Edition guides such as how to romance Ashley, how to use biotics, how to run, Face Codes and Legendary vs Classic Mode (Level Scaling).
