While teaming up with the Harpers and bumping up on Kar’niss, you will have to make this important choice. You ain’t got much time as the Harpers will ambush the Kar’niss if things go south. Anyways, before that happens, you can make a few Deception checks and convince Kar’niss that you are a True Soul and are being protected by the Absolute. Following this, you can make him hand over his Lantern, and go into the Shadows.

If you make him go into the shadows, then he and his fellow teammates will immediately fall victim to what lurks in the dark. They will become cursed monsters and can be found later in Reithwin Town, near Ketheric’s Statue. If you come in contact with him there, then he will turn hostile and try to attack you. Even though it will show temporarily hostile there, you won’t be able to settle your disputes with him. That brings us to the question, was it any good to let Kar’niss go in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Should you Let Kar’niss Go? – Answered

Should You Let Karn'iss Go Into The Dark In Baldur's Gate 3?

According to me, you should let him go into the dark and take the Moonlantern from this. Not only this will get you approval from the Harpers but from Jaheira as well. By the way, gaining Jaheira’s approval will help you Recruit and Romance her in the future. Aside from this, you will stay on good terms with the occupants at Last Light Inn if you side with Harpers and let Kar’Niss go in the dark.

Other than this, if you want to make an evil choice and spare Kar’niss, then you can do that as well. Doing so will make you enemies with the Harpers and you will have to kill them. In return, you will get to reach Act 2 faster than usual, but I don’t think that’s worth killing the good guys.
