The Karmic Dice in Baldur’s Gate 3 is an optional setting that players can opt to enable or disable in the game. Similar to previous Baldur’s Gate titles, dice rolls play a quite crucial role in the game. Its description states, “Karmic dice avoid failure or success streaks while keeping the results mostly random”. Since the in-game description doesn’t offer a sufficient explanation, many players are confused if they should turn on or turn off the Karmic Dice. Don’t worry, check out our guide that explains everything about the Karmic Dice in BG3 and if you should turn this option off or on.

What is Karmic Dice in Baldur’s Gate 3 (Explained)

bg3 karmic dice

Karmic Dice in BG3 allows balancing out the good and bad die rolls for making it more even. Enabling this option allows players to have a more balanced gameplay avoiding the success and failure streaks. That means, it breaks the consecutive failures in a row for more favorable results. But as you enable this option, it also avoids consecutive successes with your rolls.

The Karmic Dice option in Baldur’s Gate 3 assists you to make the rolls more favorable. These include the Perception checks, attack or damage rolls, and the various dialogue rolls.

BG3 Karmic Dice Option – Should You Turn On or Off?

Being optional, you can choose to turn the Karmic Dice in BG3 either off or on. In my opinion, it is better to have this option turned on if you are looking for slightly curated rolls in BG3. If you have been getting failure rolls in a constant row, enabling the Karmic Dice can help you turn the odds in your favor.

But having this option turned on doesn’t guarantee that you won’t fail consecutively, ever. Instead, turning on the Karmic Dice option would allow players to get more randomized and balanced rolls. This includes getting the good and bad rolls, both. But as this option also avoids success rolls in a row, we recommend save-scumming as a better alternative.

In the end, it’s a D&D game that revolves around getting random die rolls. So, turning off the Karmic Dice is a suitable option if you are looking for an unpredictable storyline.
