The answer is a straight no, Borderlands 3 at launch does not support cross-platform functionality which means that you will need friends on the same console to play together.
But it seems that things could very much change in the near future, Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford tweeted that they are working towards bringing cross-platform play functionality in Borderlands 3.
There isn’t a definitive date set as of yet, but at least knowing that this function will be made available brings a lot of relief. You will soon be playing with friends from different systems and enjoy this craze filled adventure.
