Advanced Proton Tether is an important upgrade in Journey to the Savage Planet. To unlock this you have to first unlock Proton Tether the regular version of Grapple in the game. Advance Proton Tether is a reward of the 4th Best Detective side mission. How to unlock Advanced Proton Tether in Journey to the Savage Planet
To start 4th Best Detective side mission, use the Fast Travel point to return to Planetary Flotsam in The Itching Fields. From the entrance go all the way towards the right cave that will take you to Virulent tree of K’Klenaii. This place has huge mushrooms around, you can jump over them and there is also has a metal sign of Launch Booster. Climb up and you will find a Rail, this is the dead end.
Scan the rail to start the 4th Best Detective side mission. To complete this side mission you will have to find the shrine first and three gems. Follow the objective marker that will take you inside the cave, a new area called The Gaseous Underbelly. Continue following the marker, you will need to use some Grapple seeds here. You will reach The Fungi of Si’ned VII that has the shrine. This new area is The Ruins Altar of Yun’JI.
All Three Shattered Crystals Locations Journey to the Savage Planet
To upgrade Proton Tether you will have to find three crystal fragments to activate the Advance Proton Tether Shrine. The scanner will guide you to find the crystal fragments when you scan the surrounding you will see trails for all three crystals from the shrine.
Crystal Fragment Location 1 – The first goes to the left, towards a location with Tentaweed. Kick or shoot them. They will hide and you can grab your first crystal fragment in Journey to the Savage Planet.
Crystal Fragment Location 2 – Return back to the shrine and follow the center trail. The second trail is easy, it leads to a huge mushroom, the crystal is placed right on top of it.
Crystal Fragment Location 3 – The third one will lead you to a cave behind the waterfall. Inside there are rocks covered in Amber armor. Grab the green goo from plants around it and throw it on a first rock on you right as you enter revealing the last and final crystal fragment in Journey to the Savage Planet.
Now you have all three Crystal Fragments, return to the shrine and grab the sample. Next return back to Javelin to craft the Advance Proton Tether. This grapple upgrade will help you to get magnetically attached to a rail, you can travel longer distances with this gear. It is an extremely useful upgrade in Journey to the Savage Planet.
