Players seem to have a problem connecting to the servers. This has occurred due to the servers being overloaded with a multitude of players logging in at the same time.

The developers have taken note of this and have appropriately responded. Via Twitter, they have sent out a notice saying that they are in the process of scaling up the servers. It is safe to say that the Developers did not expect such a high response. Unfortunately, there is nothing that you can do on your own.
The servers should be back up soon enough and all you can do for now is wait.
