Helldivers 2 is a PVE game with clear gameplay mechanics; however, there are many unwritten co-op rules that new players are unaware of, which can lead to them getting kicked from the game or worse, killed right before extraction. Here are some mistakes to avoid in Helldivers 2 as a beginner Recruit, so that you’re not considered a traitor of democracy.
Do’s and Don’ts in Helldivers 2
Try to reinforce near the location of death

As you progress further, the maps become larger, and reinforcing at the right time and place can make a big difference. Check whether you’re near the location of your teammate’s death and try to reinforce somewhere close to it. If the player died way across the map, and there is another player near them, let them reinforce in this case.
However, if the player was a lone wolf who traveled too far, there’s no choice but to reinforce from wherever you are.
Don’t kill someone because they took your samples
Samples are shared across the team, so if someone has picked up your samples from your last death spot, don’t go ahead and punish them for it. However, if you’re the player who picked the samples, make sure you avoid looting their support weapon.

If the player has respawned nearby, the best thing to do would be to ping the location of dropped items, so they can pick up both weapons and samples.
In case someone has kept a support weapon for you to use, they may ping it or mention it in the chat. Get permission first, and then go ahead and pick it up.
Use pings for accidental damage

In Helldivers 2, it’s almost impossible to avoid dealing damage to your teammates (whether it’s via your weapon, guard dog, Tesla Tower, or something else). Make sure to ping ‘Sorry’ or communicate via chat to let them know. Stim them if you are the cause of the damage as well.
Throw reinforcement near bigger enemies if possible
This saves one use of a strategem specifically for taking them down, plus, landing straight on a big bug and squashing it can feel incredibly satisfying. When you reinforce, ping the enemy you want to flatten, and the player will maneuver their hellpod to possibly land on it.
Consider the placement of your turrets

Sentries and turrets can take down your own teammates, so make sure they are positioned well. Sometimes elevated/lower locations work, and sometimes, corners work better. Mark them so that friendlies are alerted and don’t walk straight into their line of fire.

Communicate while calling in resupply

Resupply needs to be shared among the teammates, so make sure you ping its location and communicate about calling it in, if possible. Reload your weapons before you pick up ammo, and don’t take all the resupplies.
Don’t shoot everything you see
Sometimes, the enemies are just going on a walk. If it’s not an objective, let them go their way. This is especially important if you’re alone and further away from your teammates. Focusing on objectives should be a priority since you need to manage ammo, grenades and stims.
Don’t throw mines where your team will move around
Mines are best thrown in choke points where enemies will keep walking in and take damage. If you place mines or even the Tesla tower in a crucial area such as the extraction point, it will lead to unnecessary Helldiver deaths, including your own.
Let the host extract
Sometimes, players end up calling in extraction without completing all the side objectives, even if the host wants to complete them. So, it’s best to let the host decide when to call in extraction.
Even if the Pelican has arrived, don’t walk in immediately because it starts a timer, and you can’t do much after that. There’s a chance someone would’ve wanted to pick up some samples or complete a short objective nearby. Make sure everyone is on the same page regarding extraction.
Coordinate attacks on massive enemies

There’s always a risk of wasting a stratagem if another teammate eliminates the target the moment you deploy it. To avoid this scenario, wait a few moments after the enemy is pinged and only then call in an attack. Better yet, use voice chat to let them know that this enemy will be taken down by you. This way, fellow Helldivers can focus on other targets.
If someone’s emoting, don’t leave them hanging
For the spread of liberty and democracy, it’s crucial that you hug back/fist bump/emote with the player that’s asking for it.
With all of these in mind, you’re ready to give enemies the taste of freedom and give your life for Super Earth!
