If you’ve been building your dream base and suddenly realize you’ve placed your furniture or structures in the wrong spot, don’t worry. That’s exactly where the Hammer in 99 Nights in the Forest comes in handy. It’s one of the most useful tools because it lets players reposition and manage furniture. This way you can adjust and edit your base structures as you prefer.
Unlike weapons or axes, it’s not meant for combat or gathering, but you need it in your arsenal. With the Hammer in hand, you can redesign your camp layout, optimize your space, and make your survival setup both functional and visually appealing. Here’s how to obtain it.
How to Get the Hammer in 99 Nights in the Forest
Getting this tool isn’t difficult, but you do need to know where to look or how to craft it. Some player classes even start with it, while others will need to gather specific materials before crafting one at the Workshop.
There are two main ways to obtain it:
Starting Tool via Class: If you choose the Decorator or Blacksmith class, you’ll automatically spawn with a Hammer in your inventory.
Craft at the Workshop: If you’re playing another class, you can craft it yourself at the Tool Workshop using 5 Logs and 5 Scrap. Logs come from chopping down trees, while Scrap can be found in debris or chests scattered across the map.
Crafting the Hammer

- Gather 5 Logs by chopping trees with your axe.
- Collect 5 Scrap by exploring and looting items across the forest.
- For crafting, find or build a Tool Workshop in your base area.
- Access the Workshop menu and craft the Hammer.
- Equip it and you’re ready to start rearranging your furniture or structures freely.
As mentioned before, this tool is ideal for players who care about base organization and design. It’s especially useful during mid to late-game when your base starts expanding and you need to optimize space. By letting you move items without destroying them, the Hammer saves time and resources and ensures your camp looks exactly how you want it.
When equipped, nearby movable items will highlight in yellow, allowing you to pick them up and reposition them anywhere within your building area. However, not everything is movable. The Teleporter, and Defense Blueprints (eg, Barbed Wire, Stakes) are examples of items that can’t be picked up with the Hammer.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Gather resources early, because it’s easier to craft the Hammer before nights get more dangerous.
- Plan your layout because certain objects can’t be moved. So position them wisely from the start.
- Use teamwork because in multiplayer, coordinate with your squad to avoid accidentally moving shared items.
The Hammer may not help you survive battles or gather materials, but it’s an essential tool for maintaining and improving your base in 99 Nights in the Forest. This is crucial for survival, especially when the nights get tougher.
