The Githyanki Patrol northeast of The Risen Road is an optional fight that most players want to avoid in Baldur’s Gate 3. This encounter can be extremely deadly if attempted at too low a level. Next is Gish For’reth, an Eldritch Knight with 56 hit points, 17 AC, and +3 to spell save DCs—stay alert for his magical assaults. The final two enemies are Raider Ghost and Raider Zastri, likely Rangers focusing on crossbow attacks.
The Githyanki hold the high ground atop a clifftop, giving them an advantage. Meanwhile, your party starts at the base of the cliff, forcing you to fight upward. Before taking action:
- Shape the battlefield to your benefit.
- Use stealth to take out isolated foes quietly.
- Coat the area with flammable substances and detonate them when combat starts.
- Set traps or use spells and abilities to restrict enemy movement.
Carefully choose which companions to bring. Leaving brute force allies like Lae’zel behind in favor of ranged damage dealers or sneaky rogues is prudent. Bringing non-player characters like summoned creatures or charmed ogres can provide distractions or extra attacks.
Who Should You Kill First?
Once combat begins, capitalize on your party’s strengths. Enter the battle with potions, antidotes and other valuable consumables. Protect yourself against expected dangers like poison. Healing potions and escape tools like Invisibility help recover from mistakes.
First, kill the Raider Ghost and the Raider Zastri, the Gish For’reth, then the Sarth Baretha. The clifftop arena allows for shoving enemies to their doom. Setting the grass ablaze can cause chaos. Use barrels of oil or poison to your advantage.
Immobilize dangerous foes with Hold Person or crippling elemental attacks. Focus fire to drop their numbers quickly. Use mobility and line of sight to break up their formation. Adapt your approach as the situation changes.
