Minecraft Ghasts: How To Deal With Them

Check out everything you need to know about Ghasts in Minecraft.

Minecraft has a plethora of hostile mobs like the Ghasts. For players who are new to the game, hostile mobs will attack you as soon as you enter their radius. The Ghasts are on the weaker side compared to others. However, they can easily kill you with their ranged attacks. To help you deal with them, we will tell you everything you need to know about Ghasts.

What are Ghasts? (Behavior)

Minecraft Ghasts

Ghasts are one of the biggest hostile mobs in Minecraft, only second to the Ender Dragon. They resemble floating marshmallows and you can find them in the Nether region. They float around with their eyes closed and emit crying sounds.

If they spot you, then they will shoot a fireball toward you every 3 seconds. These fireballs have splash damage and they will affect nearby blocks and mobs as well. The fireball damage depends on your proximity and the difficulty you’re playing on:

  • Easy: 9 Hearts
  • Normal: 17 Hearts
  • Hard: 25 Hearts

If you are careless and take a few hits then you’re bound to meet an early demise. However, if you kill them, they will drop some valuable loot.

How to Deal with Ghasts in Minecraft

As we mentioned, Ghasts are weaker based on their health bar. They only have 5 Hearts, meaning 10 health points. However, the hard part is hitting them. Since they only float in the air and use ranged attacks, it is difficult to land a hit on them. Here are some tips to beat the Ghast in Minecraft:

  • Use ranged weapons like Bow and Arrow.
  • Any solid block can shield you against the fireballs so make sure there are plenty around before taking a fight.
  • Make sure you have a good armor set.
  • If you don’t have a bow, then use your sword to hit the Ghast with its own fireball. This may take some tries and practice but you can one-shot it with this move.

Ghasts Drops in Minecraft

Once you kill Ghasts, you will get the following loot:

  • Ghast Tear: Used to craft Regeneration Potions and End Crystals.
  • Gunpowder: Used to craft Rocket, TNT, Fire Charge, etc.
  • 5 Exp Points
