How to Get Rawhide and Leather in Stranded Deep
Hunting is an important skill in this game. Before looking for these materials, you should craft a few weapons like an Axe, Spear, or Knife. Then, practice hunting smaller creatures like Crabs, Fish, Snakes, etc. Once you have enough XP, you can move on to bigger animals.
In Stranded Deep, you can get Rawhide by hunting and skinning Boars, Hogs, and Sharks. All Boars and Sharks drop it but the Hog and the Great White Shark drop the most. After hunting these animals, you can go to their corpse and hold the E key to skin them. Then, you can use Rawhide to upgrade the Tool Belt Pouch to Level 2 or turn it into Leather.
Turning Rawhide into Leather
To craft new items and structures, you’ll have to upgrade your Craftmanship skill. You can start by making items like the Stone Tool and Lashing to increase your Craftmanship level. Then, you can build the Tanning Rack by using 4x Sticks and 4x Lashings. At Craftmanship level 3, you will get access to Leather at the Tanning Rack crafting station. To turn Rawhide into Leather:
- Go to your Tanning Rack and open the Crafting Menu.
- Under the menu, navigate to the Tools tab.
- Scroll down to Leather and click on it.
- You will see an item with a Yellow Outline. Click again while pointing at a spot where you want to drop it.
- Then, Click the E key to pick it up.
You can also obtain it by scavenging at a Shipwreck or Survivor Remains. Using Leather, you can craft high-end items like:
