If you have Karlach in your party then you will want to get yourself some Infernal Iron in Baldur’s Gate 3. During your explorations, you must have come across this resource. It might initially feel useless because the game doesn’t tell you exactly what to do with it. You might feel tempted to sell it off but it is better to hold on to. That’s because you need it in Karlach’s companion quest, The Hellion’s Heart to fix the engine in her chest. So here are some locations where you can find Infernal Iron in BG3.
Where to Find Infernal Iron in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Depending on how much you explore and loot you must already have some Infernal Iron in your inventory, but here are some places where you can easily find more:
- Blighted Village
- Shattered Sanctum
Aside from Infernal Iron, you can find some Infernal Alloy and metal in the following locations.
- Underdark Grymforge
- Reithwin Mason’s Guild
Blighted Village
Go to the northern house, your map should show you near Shabby Wooden Doors. Destroy the Calcified Web and jump down. Behind you will be a chest on the ground, ignore it and climb the ladder. It has an explosive, trying to open it will destroy the ladder. Now, open the Wooden chest you find here to get an Infernal Iron.
Shattered Sanctum
Go to the Goblin Camp in Shattered Sanctum. Here, go north and open the door behind Dror Ragzlin’s seat. Along with several other loot, you will find Infernal Iron here.
Underdark Grymforge
This is a good place if you don’t mind trying your luck. Go to the Underdark Grymforge and find Stonemason Kith. Talk to him and he will ask you to inspect the rubble. You will have to roll 10 thrice here. Talk to him again and he will give you Infernal Alloy in return.
Reithwin Mason’s Guild
A place where you can find Infernal Metal is Reithwin Mason’s Guild. Go to the coordinates X -100, and Y 19. You should find one on the table.
How to Use Infernal Iron in Baldur’s Gate 3
You need Infernal Iron to repair Karlach’s Infernal engine.
- Go to Emerald Grove and talk to Dammon.
- He will tell you about Karlach’s Infernal engine overheating and needing this resource for her repairs.
- Give him the Infernal Iron to repair her Engine.
This will save her temporarily, to fix her for good you have to meet him again at Baldur’s Gate.
Do remember that if you raid the Emerald Grove you lose the option to talk to Dammon thus you won’t be able to repair her. Also, if you don’t speak with Dammon while having Karlach in your party, you also miss out on repairing her as he will leave for the Gate.
