Similar to every Zelda entry, you start your journey with a weak and wounded Link in the Tears of the Kingdom. While you start with a mere single Stamina wheel and three hearts, you must upgrade to survive the Hyrule kingdom. To do so, it will require exploring and completing some quests throughout Zelda: TOTK. So, check out our guide to find out how to get more Hearts and Stamina in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
How to Get Max Hearts & Stamina in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK)
The best way to regularly get more Hearts and Stamina in TOTK is by farming the Shrines. As you examine and interact with these Shrines, you get a single Light of Blessing at the end. Once you have earned and farmed four Light of Blessings, you must head to the Goddess statue. Over there, you can pray to the Goddess statue to either get a Stamina Vessel or a Heart container.
Note that the first four shrines you discover will be the same for all the players. If you specifically want to maximize your current health pool, you can complete the main story missions. You will receive a single Heart container at the end of every quest or mission you complete. So, keep on your progression by completing story quests to upgrade and get more Hearts.
What is the Max Amount of Hearts you can get in TOTK?
It’s possible to get 40 hearts at a time in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom alongside 2.5 Stamina. If you prefer to have more Stamina, you can keep 3 Stamina wheels and 38 Heart Containers.
Where to Find the Goddess Statues in Tears of the Kingdom
You can find the Goddess statues all across Hyrule’s expansive open world in the Tears of the Kingdom. To turn in the first four Light of Blessings, you can head to the Temple of Time in Great Sky Island. Alternatively, you can also head over to the Lookout Landing region to find a Goddess statue in the Emergency Shelter. You can find the Goddess statues around the villages and a variety of settlements.
As you keep on progressing and exploring, you will discover new regions along with new Shrines. You can find the Goddess Statues on the surface and Sky islands. So, keep an eye on the Goddess statues while traveling to new villages and settlements.
Should you Upgrade Hearts or Stamina in Zelda TOTK?
While upgrading the Heart containers or Stamina, both have their benefits. In my opinion, choosing more Hearts over Stamina wheels is a better alternative in Zelda: TOTK. As you progress, you will deal with stronger enemies. If you don’t have enough hearts, surviving them can be a bit tricky and challenging. Since some enemies can also one-shot you, we suggest getting more hearts by farming four Shrines.
On the contrary, choosing Stamina wheels over Hearts also has its advantages. With more Stamina, Link can sprint, glide, swim, and climb for a longer duration. While there are a variety of ways to increase Health, there aren’t many options to restore Stamina. Furthermore, increased Stamina can also affect your combat. So, the more Stamina you have, the better you can dodge and attack.
Note that you can respec your Heart and Stamina at the Horned Statue, later in the game. This will allow you to convert your hard-earned Hearts into Stamina or vice-versa. So, we leave the decision to you.
