How to Get the Essence of Hel in God of War Ragnarok

Essence of Hel Locations in GoW Ragnarok

In God of War Ragnarok, you can get the Essence of Hel by closing the Hel-Tears across the nine realms. Simply track down these Hel-Tears, fight the enemies that appear before them, and close them down with the help of Atreus or Freya. Although these resources will be available after completing the Reunion mission in the main storyline. So if you haven’t reached this point, don’t read further to avoid spoilers. That being said, let’s get into the details of these tears.

On Atreus’ journey through Helheim, he frees Garm by mistake. However, after reuniting with Kratos, they head on a journey to correct this mistake. After a battle with Garm, Atreus inserts Fenrir’s soul into Garm. But by then, Garm’s rampage has already caused the Hel-Tears to open. Now it’s up to Kratos to close them down and as a reward, you will get the Essence of Hel resource.

The Essence of Hel Locations

There are six tears throughout the realms. These are the locations you can find the Essence of Hel.

  • Sindri’s Home
  • At Helheim in The Gleaming Bale
  • At Alfheim in The Strond
  • At Midgard in The Well of Urd
