In Overwatch 2, you can get Gold weapons if you have enough Competitive Points. As the name suggests these are the points you earn by playing the Competitive mode of the game. Competitive Points (CP) are rewards that the game gives you for playing the Competitive mode of Overwatch 2. Thus the only way to earn them is from here and unranked matches won’t count. But it is not as simple as just playing competitive matches you also need to win matches to get the most points. While winning matches gives you the most points you also earn some points for finishing the match in a draw. But where you won’t get any points is for losing. Here are the points you get in each scenario:

  • Won the match: 15 CP
  • Draw match: 5 CP
  • Lost the match: 0 CP

While these are the ways you get CP in every match. There are other ways to get CP too, and that is by increasing your Rank. Each Rank in Overwatch 2 will give you a certain amount of CP at the end of the season. And to further get more points these ranks are split into queues, which are Open Queue and Role Queue. Here are all the ranks in the game and the CP you get from them:

  • Grandmaster: 1,750 CP
  • Master: 1,200 CP
  • Diamond: 750 CP
  • Platinum: 500 CP
  • Gold: 250 CP
  • Silver: 125 CP
  • Bronze: 65 CP

You can use Competitive Points in this game to buy gold weapons for your characters. Each gold weapon costs 3000 Competitive Points. So you will have to win a ton of matches and rank up a lot if you have your eyes set on some particular weapon.
