How to Get and Use Rope in Dead Rails

Published Date :

Rope is a common but somewhat limited item in Dead Rails. While it was once a useful tool for attaching objects and even dragging corpses, its functionality has changed over time. Players can still collect, sell, and use rope as fuel, but it no longer serves its original utility purpose.

How to Get Rope in Dead Rails

Looting Abandoned Buildings

The best way to find rope in Dead Rails is by scavenging abandoned buildings. These locations frequently contain rope, along with other junk items. If you’re exploring, always check shelves, and hidden corners, as rope may be easy to overlook.

Since rope doesn’t have many in-game uses, players often sell it for cash. Rope can be sold for $5 per piece.

How to Use Rope

Fuel Source

One of the primary uses of rope is as a fuel source. It can be burned as an alternative to coal, though it’s not as efficient. If you don’t have coal available, rope can serve as a backup option.

Selling for Cash

While $5 per rope isn’t much, selling a large stash can provide extra money for more valuable resources. If you have no use for rope, it’s better to sell it than let it take up inventory space.

Previously, rope allowed players to attach objects or drag corpses. However, due to a bug that let players pass through walls and caused lag in servers, this feature was removed. It’s unclear that it will get more uses in the future or not.

Rope in Dead Rails is now primarily a junk item with minor uses. While it doesn’t provide major gameplay advantages, collecting and selling it can be useful. If you find rope, consider whether you need fuel or cash before deciding what to do with it.
