How To Get Funky Kong In Mario Kart Wii

Updated Date :

Few things in life are as fun as Funky Kong in Mario Kart Wii. Few can resist the sheer charisma that radiates from this modern version of the beloved Nintendo icon. Torn blue pants and a white tank top to match with, a pair of black shades, and a red bandana with dots complete the look of this community’s favorite character. But many fans are confused with the number and nature of the tasks required. So, here’s your guide to getting Funky Kong in Mario Kart Wii.

How to unlock Funky Kong in Mario Kart Wii

To unlock Funky Kong, the player must complete any one of these three tasks –

  • Play 2,250 combined races/battles.
  • Unlock any 4 Expert Staff Ghosts in time trials.
  • Win 25 WFC Ghost Races.

To unlock any expert staff ghost, players will have to beat the set staff times present on each map in time trials. Just matching the normal time stamp will not be enough as you’ll need to be faster by a minimum of 5 seconds.

As Nintendo discontinued WFC in 2014, the only real options are playing 2,250 races/battles or beating the normal staff ghost records on maps they are confident in.

Why Funky Kong?

Funky Kong stands as more than just eye candy though; his high-speed stats make him a favorite amongst speed runners and Mario Kart extremists looking to set records on the game. Funky Kong also falls in the category of large-sized racer which allows him to use the Jetsetter and the Spear, the fastest kart and bike in the game respectively. This makes Funky Kong perfect for maps like Luigi Circuit, Mushroom Gorge, and even offbeat tracks like DK Summit.

Each one of these tasks seems impossible at the onset, but the price Nintendo asks for Funky Kong is a fair one. Once unlocked Funky Kong will not only be the coolest character on the track but the fastest one as well.
