If you’re a completionist who wants to finish the entire bestiary of Fisch, you need to find Legendaries and Mythical fishes in every location. On one such island, you’ll catch the Dumbo Octopus which has specific weather, season, and bait requirements. Here’s everything you need to know to get this creature, along with the best fishing rod to reel it in.
How to Catch Dumbo Octopus in Fisch
Dumbo Octopus can be caught in the Roslit Bay island which can be easily accessed via a boat. If you don’t have one already, you can farm money, and then talk to the Shipwright NPC in Moosewood (as well as other islands) to see the boat you want to buy. Spawn it, hop onto it and make your way to the marker seen in the distance while you’re in the Ocean area. You can also jump into a boat of another player and request them to take you to Roslit Bay.
Once you’re there, turn on the option to see Capture Flags if you’ve previously turned them off. You will see the spot where many players have found this creature. Note that the best bait to catch the Dumbo Octopus is a Worm which can be easily obtained from crates. It’s ideal to have Rainy weather and Winter Season to catch it as well. The Tempest totem will change the weather to rainy when you trigger it so that you can catch all the rain-based fish during this time.
When you hook it, you will see a yellow exclamation mark pop up above your character’s head and it will also apply a -15% progress speed decrease. Upon catching, though, you will get 400XP, making it one of the best fish to farm for leveling up.
The best fishing rods to catch the Dumbo Octopus are any with high Resilience and/or Control. Since it’s a Legendary, it will dash around on the fishing bar, making it very tough to catch if you’re using a rod with low stats. The Steady Rod, Rod of the Depths, Arctic Rod, Rod of the Eternal King, No Life Rod, Rod of the Forgotten Fang or any good rod of your choice will come in handy here. If you’re lucky, you may even find mutated versions that will sell for a higher price.
