The Barreleye Fish is a mythical fish added to Fisch during The Depths update and they’re a reference to real-world fish which are deep sea creatures with barrel-shaped bodies. It’s quite a rare fish and won’t be easily caught from the location. Moreover, it has certain requirements that need to be fulfilled if you wish to complete the bestiary of this area. Here’s everything you need to know if you’d like to obtain it.
How to Get Barreleye Fish in Fisch
The Barreleye Fish can be caught from The Depths and prior to hotfix 1.06.1, this fish was bugged and players couldn’t catch it. However, it is fixed now. Make sure you have the Deep Coral bait that can be obtained from a Coral Geode caught from the Desolate Deep region. In terms of catching conditions, any weather is perfect, but it needs to be Summer season and nighttime to obtain this Mythical creature.
This will be a tricky catch because the Barreleye Fish will dart around the fishing bar, so make sure you’re focused till the end. Plus, a -15% progress speed decrease is also applied, making it slightly more challenging. The best fishing rods to catch it would be Trident, Mythical, Kings, Aurora, Sunken, Destiny, or Steady. Of course, rods like No-Life and Rod of the Depths (if you have one already) will work well too.
Players have caught all the different types of mutations including AUrora, Giant, Darkened, Mosaic, Negative, Hexed, and more.
If you haven’t unlocked The Depths yet, here’s the process in a nutshell:
- Head to Vertigo which can be accessed through a strange whirlpool (a whirlpool with wind going up from it).
- Get the Conception Conch from Synth’s shop and drop down into Vertigo Dip.
- Fish here until you obtain The Depths Key. Keep fishing until you 100% the Vertigo Bestiary.
- When both conditions are fulfilled, climb up via the glowing red crystals.
- Approach the Keeper NPC (with glowing eyes), who is sitting in a corner. Interact with him and give him the key.
- This will open the door/gate to The Depths.
- Now, complete the Obby which requires you to jump on rocks that fall down behind you.
- After fishing it, you will see a small opening that you must pass through and you will find yourself in The Depths.
