The “Drain The Water” puzzle on Ares Island is a particularly confusing one. As the name suggests, you have to drain the pond to progress further. How to Drain Water on Ares Island in Sonic Frontiers
After a short cutscene at the pond, you will be tasked with draining the pond using the seal above it. If you explore the outskirts of the lake, you will notice two things: A Huge Gun and a Large Bomb. Your objective, for now, is to arm the bomb and load it in the gun. To do so, head over to the bomb and use your Cyloop Ability around it. This will arm the bomb and you will be able to carry it. But now, you will see a 30-second timer within which you have to complete this task. To drain the water on Ares Island in Sonic Frontiers, load the gun and aim for the red diamond on the seal. Then fire the gun and the diamond will turn blue. Then the huge chain will be lifted along with the plug draining the pond. Note that you have to do all of this within 30-seconds or the bomb will explode.
Many players get to the loading part and then fire at the chain itself. However, that will not drain the water.
