To change your game’s difficulty, interact with the World Stone. You may also know it as the Checkpoint stone, it is the large orange floating rock that gives you access to use the Checkpoint. Basically, this is what you have to do:

  1. Head over to a World Stone and use Checkpoint. This will open the world map for you and show you which areas you can go to.
  2. At the bottom you will find the World Settings option, click on it.
  3. Here, you will get the option to select your Game modes.
  4. Below them, both should have a Reroll option, click on it and choose the difficulty that you wish to change to. The difficulty options include:
    • Survivor
    • Veteran
    • Nightmare
    • Apocalypse (Unlocks after you beat the game)
  5. For Campaign mode you will click on Reroll Campaign, similarly for Adventure mode click on Reroll Adventure.

Do remember that changing your difficulty in Campaign mode resets your progress. So while you do get to keep all your upgrades, weapons, scraps, and some other items that you may have found. You will have to start progressing the story from scratch. Although with Adventure Mode, things aren’t as bad, you can play around with its difficulty options as much as you like without having to worry about starting over.
