There will be a few things you need before you go on your journey to tame shiny beasts. First, make sure you have progressed to the point where you have all items needed to tame beasts. Let’s take a deeper look at the items required and how to use them to catch shiny beasts.

Preparing to catch Beasts

The items needed to catch beasts and bring them back to the Vivarium are as follows:

  • Beast Feed and Beast Petting Brush: These items can be obtained during the first Beast Class quest by Poppy Sweeting. She will also teach you how to use them.
  • Nab-Sack: This item can be obtained in The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom quest. Deek will teach you how to use it during this quest.

Catching rare Shiny Beasts

After you are well-versed in the art of taming beasts, you can now start capturing them. However, shiny beasts are as elusive and rare as you would imagine. Nothing really indicates that it’s a rare shiny beast before you catch it.

In order to check whether the beast you captured is shiny or not, Go into the “Beasts” section in your inventory. Inspect the beast that you captured and check if it has a yellow star beside its name as shown in the image above. The yellow star beside the name is the only indicator of a shiny beast. Inspecting a beast can also be done after releasing it inside your vivarium.

Keep in mind that you can only keep up to 12 beasts in the vivarium. More rooms can be unlocked in the vivarium through side quests. For more Hogwarts Legacy guides, check out our other articles like where is the room of requirement and how to pop balloons.
