Why Can’t I Play Fortnite Ranked? (Answered)

Published Date :

If you are looking to play Fortnite Ranked and are greeted with an error that isn’t letting you join the competitive battle royale modes, then you might have missed something important. Epic Games introduced Ranked during Chapter 4 and ever since many players have been on the grind to progress through the different ranks. The option brought in even higher stakes in the already competitive battle royale scenario.

However, if you are a casual player or are joining Fortnite Ranked with an alternate account then there is a prerequisite that you would have to complete to join the servers and progress through the ranks. So if you are wondering why exactly can’t you play ranked, then here is everything you need to know about it.

For players looking to join the competitive battle royale and play ranked in Fortnite, you will need to first play some unranked matches. Along with it, if you are joining the game with an entirely new account or an alternate Epic account, you will have a specific quest where you will have to outlast 500 battle royale opponents in the kickstart quests.

It is one of the prerequisite quests that you will have to complete in order to play Fortnite ranked. You can find the objective inside the Quest Tab in the game. While at first it might seem like a huge quest, you will be able to complete those with a few unranked matches. Epic Games introduced this to filter out casual alternate accounts in the game.

Once you have completed the quest, you will be able to join in the ranked battle royale immediately in Fortnite. If you are still unable to play ranked, it might be because of matchmaking which might take some time. Queuing during slower hours will take longer than usual since ranked matches require a pool of similarly ranked players in the game.
