MW2 and Warzone 2 got a big patch with the drop of Season 2 which shook up the best guns meta. There were also two new guns added currently at launch. The first is the ISO Hemlock which is in the Assault Rifle category. The second is the KV Broadside which is in the Shotgun category. It’s yet to be seen if these new weapons will be meta or not.
Best Guns in the new Season 2 meta in MW2 and Warzone 2
The previous ultimate meta weapon RPK was dethroned in this season as the best gun. It was nerfed enough that you can’t call it meta anymore. Although what will replace it for good is yet to be seen with time. For now, these weapons listed below are meta for best guns in Season 2 of MW2 and Warzone 2:

Lachmann Sub
The classic Lachmann Sub, better known as “MP5”, is still standing as one of the best sub-machine guns. It is too iconic for the developers to not have it be a viable meta weapon. The Lachmann Sub provides the optimal amounts of everything that a submachine gun should offer. Fast ADS, Decent Fire Rate, Almost AR-like range, etc. makes it an undeniable choice. You can be assured this gun will likely always stay in the meta regardless of Seasons in MW2.
TAC-56
Just like the real-life “Scar” AR that it’s based on, The TAC-56 is a hard-hitting assault rifle. It was already pretty good in its performance in Season 1 but it seems to be even better in Season 2. It excels in damage output and range. Also, with high-velocity bullets, it makes it even easier to shoot enemies at a distance. Although it can sometimes be outclassed by SMGs and shotguns at close range, it’s an overall solid choice for an AR in Season 2.
Sakin MG38
The Sakin MG38 got a much-needed buff in Season 2. The classic LMG was liked by many but always seem to fall slightly short in every department. However, now it has become one of the best meta guns for Season 2 like it was always supposed to be. It boasts a huge magazine capacity of 100 rounds by default with no attachments. The recoil is also manageable now for an LMG-class weapon. It makes for a good meta gun in the new season.
Vaznev 9k
The Vaznev 9k is slowly becoming everyone’s favorite go-to sub-machine gun. It is the most hard-hitting SMG along with one of the longest range stat in its class. It doesn’t take a lot to level up this gun since it doesn’t have many levels which is a good thing. Think of it as that one reliable gun that you know when it gets in your hands, you have enough firepower on you. It even works pretty well without many attachments on it. With an added 45 magazine, it can shred through armor and knock down enemies in Warzone 2 with ease.
M4
The most iconic modern weapon, the M4 assault rifle is back in Season 2 as one of the best weapons to use. M4 is also one of those weapons that never goes out of the meta because of its popularity. But adjustments are always made to it, fortunately, it’s even better in Season 2 so M4 fans rejoice. It’s always ready for any given situation, the only place where it can fall short is very close range. Otherwise, the M4 stands as an unbeatable contender in overall performance when compared to all other weapons, not just assault rifles.
Best meta guns for Ranked in MW2
While the guns mentioned above are the best guns overall, ranked is a different playground in MW2. Here is a quick list of the best meta guns to use in Ranked:

A lot of weapons like the M4 are banned in Ranked. Even a lot of attachments are banned but these 3 weapons are the absolute meta right now when it comes to what is allowed. So make sure you use these guns when playing Ranked Mode in MW2.
