You cannot become an actual Vampire in Baldur’s Gate 3. However, you can get the Vampire Bite ability if you let Astarion suck your blood. You can also get this ability by simply discussing the process of becoming a vampire with him. The Vampire Bite ability will let you regain 2d4 Hit Points while also dealing with your target 2d4 Piercing Damage. However, this attack can only be used once per turn.

If you fail to meet the Charisma checks while interacting with Astarion, then don’t worry. You can also get the Vampire Bite ability by defeating Aunt Ethel. She is a powerful Fey creature who lives in the Sunlit Wetlands. After beating her, go to the Acrid Workshop – Aunt Ethel’s laboratory. Here, you will find various potions but you must look for “A Mother’s Loathing” – the potion in a white flask. It will have a description that says “A hint of blood lingers around the stopper. It’s enough to make your mouth water”. Consuming this potion will immediately grant you the Vampire Bite ability.

Why Can’t Astarion Turn You Into a Vampire in BG3

Astarion is a vampire spawn who has to obey his master’s commands. He is not a full vampire as he is yet to suck the blood of his master. Though he is no longer influenced by his master after a parasitic tadpole bit him, he is still half-human and half-vampire. This means that he will need to keep drinking blood in order to survive. But since he is half-human, he can’t turn you into a vampire in BG3.
