First thing you need to do is to go round the back of Dino Piranha and attack the brown bulb on the end using ‘Y’ button. If you hit perfectly, it’s shell will be smashed and then will try to chase you as fast as it can be.

Once its shell smashed, you will have to repeat the same thing thrice. Circle around Dino Piranha the moment you hit his tail as you did for the first time. Each time you attack, it will inflict damage to Dino Piranha, making him faster and angrier.
You merely need to hit him thrice to defeat him. When you are done attacking him thrice, he will disappear and leave you a power star to collect. Beating Dino Pirana is too easy but you just need to be precise and accurate while attacking him.
