The Adamantine Forge is a secret location in Baldur’s Gate 3 that allows you to craft powerful weapons and armor. It is located in the Grymforge, a dwarven stronghold in the Underdark. Here’s how to find the Adamantine Forge and use it to upgrade your equipment.
How to Reach the Adamantine Forge?
To get Grymforge, you should progress through the main story quests in the Underdark until you can access the boat and cross the underground river. This will take you to Grymforge. Once in this place, there are two main routes to the forge:
Goblin Camp Route:
- Progress through the main story until you reach the Goblin Camp.
- After clearing the camp, speak to Duergar guards to access the Underdark entrance behind her throne.
Decrepit Village Route:
- Enter the Underdark from any entrance (e.g., Druid Grove, Temple of Selune)
- Make your way to the Decrepit Village and take on the Myconid quest to clear out the Duergar.
- Also, speak to Thulla for an additional side quest.
- Clear out the Decrepit Village and take the boat to the docks.
How to Defeat Grym in BG3?
When facing the Grym, proper preparation and strategy are essential. This beast appears when the lava valve is pulled, and its dangerous immunities make it impervious to most attacks. Lure it into the center of the forge by stationing it at the valve.
Here’s what you need to do step-by-step to beat Grym.
- Interact with the lava valve to fill the arena with molten lava. This will summon Grym.
- Have the Tank character on the mold box strike Grym once to grab its attention. Make sure Grym is not taking lava damage yet.
- Grym will now move toward the tank. Guide it to the very center of the piston machinery.
- When Grym is in position, pull the control lever to smash it with the piston. This should deal massive damage if positioned correctly.
- Mephits will spawn – use AOE spells to quickly clear them out before focusing damage back on Grym.
- Repeat moving Grym into position and using the piston slam until it is defeated. Use ranged attacks/spells in between piston slams.
- Heal and rebuff as needed throughout the fight. Don’t let Grym remain in the lava for long.
How to Use the Adamantine Forge?
After your victory over Grym, the Adamantine Forge will become available to craft formidable weapons and armor. To use the forge, you must first collect the Mithral Ore found in the underground realm of the Underdark.
First, place the desired mold in the Mould Chamber on the forge platform to use the forge. Adamantine ore then needs to be inserted into the Middle Chamber. Pull the lever on the right side of the platform to activate the forge. When finished, push the button next to the lever to reset the forge platform.
